It is every members responsibility to, understand and follow the RANGE RULES. Excuses such as "I have never heard of this before", or, "I did not see it in the newsletter", etc. are NOT acceptable. Any violation of the Range Rules will constitute loss of membership!
Shooting Hours 9:00am till 9:00pm
- All persons, members and guests, using Central Whidbey Sportsmen's Association facilities MUST sign in/out in the RANGE LOG located at the main gate entrance to the property. Guests must be accompanied by a club member.The main gate shall be closed after entering and exiting except during activities open to the public.
- During organized CWSA events, the Range Officer for the range in use for the event is the person organizing and directing the event and must sign the entrance log and designate the shoot being conducted and the range to be used.
- Law Enforcement organized activities will be signed for, in/out, by the senior officer in charge who also assumes the Range Officer responsibilities.
- During informal range use the Range Officer is the club member(s) who has logged in and thereby accepts responsibility for the operation, safety and conduct of themselves and guests.
- Firing will cease on ALL CWSA ranges during Military flights and/or Military Operations on adjacent property that could create unsafe conditions. Range Officers and ALL club members and guests MUST and WILL remain alert for operations that could create an unsafe condition.
- Any designated/acting Range Officer has the right to refuse the use of the range/club facilities to any person.
- Muzzles of all uncased or unholstereed firearms SHALL be pointed downrange or be in a rack with the action open. Firearms SHALL
be unloaded and the action open except when firing. No firearm is to be loaded unless pointed downrange. The only exception is at the direction of the Range Officer when drawing a loaded firearm from a holster is authorized for a specific shoot, or during training.
- Any malfunction that you cannot clear with the muzzle pointed downrange - lay the firearm down - and notify the Range Officer.
- Firearms shall NEVER be handled in an unsafe manner.
- Immediately notify the Range Officer of ANY conduct or situation that appears unsafe.
- When a cease fire is in effect and the range is declared "COLD" ALL firearms shall be cased, racked, holstered or placed down with actions open and pointed downrange.
- Eye and Ear protection should be worn on or near the firing line!
- Paper or cardboard targets ONLY are to be used except at an organized event that requires alternative targets and with the exception that wooden bowling pins and bowling pin tops are authorized at the Pin Range ONLY! No Member is to use any portable stand, or any other means of holding targets or objects on any range. The use of the 10, 25, and 50 yard line target stands on the Pistol (short) range are to be shot at from behind the covered shooting line only. (Law enforcement training is done against the back berm). Members must check prior to discharging any rounds that the placement of targets on any range will assure that all bullets impact the back berms. Assurance must be made that NO rounds are shot over the top of any berm or into the ground which could cause the bullet to bounce or ricochet over the berm.
- Target frames shall be left in as good condition as when you started shooting with ALL targets removed.
- Shooters WILL police their firing area when finished. Containers for spent brass are provided.
- Non-shooters must stay back of the designated firing line and eye and ear protection SHOULD be worn at all times.
- Shooters under 18 years of age MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult ( age 21+ ).
- Persons using or appearing to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol WILL NOT be allowed on any CWSA range.
- Full automatic firearms are NOT permitted on the premises. (This rule does not apply to Law Enforcement personnel engaged in exclusive range use.).
- No Smoking in front of the safety line.
- Tracer, incendiary or armor piercing ammunition is not allowed.
- Shotguns loaded with bird-shot ONLY, are permitted on the trap range. Steel pattern board is NOT to be shot with slugs or buckshot.
- Shotguns firing SLUGS ONLY are permitted on the pistol (short) range or rifle range. Shotguns are NOT permitted on the Bowling Pin range.
- Children must be kept under close adult supervision at all times on the premises.
